Every now and again Activision hands out free access trials to try and entice new players to the latest CoD title – Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
The free access week will include access to Multiplayer, including the new Season 5 maps & modes, alongside the updated Outbreak Zombies mode for all players.
Here's everything you need to know about the free access week for Cold War Season 5.
When does the Black Ops Cold War Season 5 free trial start?
New players will get plenty of time to get to grips with Black Ops Cold War as the free access week will start on Thursday, September 2, and conclude on Tuesday, September 7.

The free access week will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
How to download the Cold War Season 5 free access week
Finding and installing the free access week, thankfully, doesn't take too much effort or trouble. A quick search and a few button prompts later, and players will be able to get stuck into the game's offerings.

Here's what players will need to do:
- You need to go on your respective console's store – PlayStation or Xbox
- Search for "Cold War Free Access"
- A free trial option for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War should be available to download
- Download it, and then boot it up to play

For PC players, there is an option to "PLAY FREE" on the Battle.net client when you load into the Black Ops Cold War tab. This will kick start the download and then let you begin accessing the free trial content.
Black Ops Cold War Season 5 new content: Maps, Modes, Outbreak
The Season 5 Free Access will include access to all of the new content released in Season 5, including new playlists, new maps, Double Agent mode, and more for players to drop in.

Also starting September 2 and running through September 7 is the Season Five Multiplayer & Zombies Free Access period, which will feature several modes and playlists for free.
In Multiplayer, players can dive into the new Season Five Moshpit (detailed above), Double Agent, everyone's favorite Nuketown 24/7, Throwback Moshpit, Party Games, Multi-Team Moshpit, Gunfight Tournament, Face Off 6v6, and the classic Team Deathmatch. Zombies enthusiasts can also enjoy all the latest Season Five content in Outbreak, and PlayStation players can dive into the Sony-exclusive Onslaught two-player Zombies experience.
In addition, Activision has announced that players who decide to upgrade to the full version of Black Ops Cold War will get the Season 5 Battle Pass & Free Tier Skips as a thank you.
In terms of Black Ops Cold War's main multiplayer additions, players can experience the brand new mode, Double Agent, which brings together ideas from Among Us and other modes into Call of Duty
